Our Story
Set outside the charming village of Darvel, Laigh Hapton Farm Holidays boast two lovely properties, the Chaff House and the Hayloft. The location is an ideal getaway for friends and family who want to explore the rugged Ayrshire countryside and all it has to offer. Or indeed those who just want to kick back and relax in the tranquil surroundings, enjoying the hot tub, the peace and quiet and the stunning countryside views.
The accommodation sits adjacent to and has direct off road access to Whitelee Forest and Windfarm, the UKs largest onshore windfarm, with more than 130kms of trails to explore on foot, by cycle or on horseback.
Horse riding lessons or countryside hacks, and interactive animal sessions with the resident goats, alpacas, donkeys, tiny ponies and other animals can be booked separately with the on-site owners.

Bring Your Horse on Holiday
Laigh Hapton Farm Holidays – Where Luxury Countryside Adventures are not just for humans! You are welcome to bring your horse, or dog (or both) on holiday to beautiful rural Ayrshire and after a day of riding you can relax in the hot tub whilst your four legged friend relaxes in their custom built accommodation right beside you.
Adjacent to the cottages there is a brand new wooden stable block exclusively for the use of holiday guests which includes 2 large stables and an attached storeroom for tack and other essential items. There is also a stable block with 5 additional stables which can be made available to accommodate a total of 7 equines.
Make the most of our excellent hacking, including quiet country roads, river rides where the horses can splash and drink in the Mucks water, canter tracks and access to Whitelee Windfarm. This is the UK’s largest on-shore windfarm located on Eaglesham Moor, with more than 130 kilometers of trails. The unique and varied setting of the windfarm along with restricted vehicle access makes it a superb location for horseriding and other outdoor pursuits including mountain biking and walking.
You also have the use of the all weather, carpet gallop, flood lit outdoor arena, a wood chip turn out paddock and an on-site Accredited Professional Coach for lessons, training or advice on all matters of riding and horse care.
Stables can be booked separately as an addition to either holiday cottage and are £20 per night per horse. This includes 1 bale of shavings bedding (or similar). Additional bedding or haylage is available to purchase on site. All horses staying must be fully vaccinated and insured.
